Billy Joel is set to release new music to his fans after 17 years.
The Piano Man teased on Instagram last Monday, 22 January, that he is set to release the track “Turn the Lights Back On” on 1 February.
The single, to be launched on a limited-edition seven-inch vinyl, is the singer’s newest after “All My Life” in 2007.
Joel’s last pop album, meanwhile — “River of Dreams” — was released in 1993.
Aside from his music comeback, the hitmaker is also set to make his presence felt in the upcoming Grammy Awards this 4 February, just days after the debut of his new single.
This would also mark Joel’s first performance in the music awards night after 30 years. He will join other performers such as Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Travis Scott, Olivia Rodrigo and more.
This week, the indefatigable performer, now 74, had a sold-out concert at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan.
Aside from Joel, several musical greats have also launched songs in recent months. The Beatles’ final single, “Now and Then,” was released on November 2023, while Agnetha Faltskog of the band ABBA launched her single, “Where Do We Go From Here,” on 31 August 2023.
