Family-run company Goldmünzen Inc. visited the Tzu Chi Eye Center last December to turn over monetary donations from the company and its employees.

The company has supported Tzu Chi Eye Center’s programs since 2020. Its president, Neil Menguito, has established a different kind of workplace: Employees’ offenses or misconduct merit a monetary penalty, and at the end of the year, the company doubles the collected amount from the penalties and turns the money over to the Tzu Chi Eye Center as a donation.

In this way, the company creates a blessing from an inauspicious situation.

Additionally, many employees, inspired by Tzu Chi’s works, are also saving a peso daily in coin banks, to be donated later to the charitable eye care facility. Last December, several of these employees turned over their coin banks to Tzu Chi.

“I realized I am blessed to be healthy,” said John Carlos Menguito. “Other people were born with eye problems. I hope to help them with my donation.”

Jeff Rando, whose father-in-law was also a beneficiary of Tzu Chi Eye Center’s programs, said their family had adopted three coin banks to help pay things forward.

“It feels good to do this not for yourself but to benefit others through Tzu Chi, which generously provides free eye care services for all,” Rando said.
