The city of Muntinlupa is clamping down on reckless and rule-breaking drivers by giving its traffic enforcers more “horsepower” to catch them.
This was the warning given by Mayor Ruffy Biazon during the blessing and inauguration of 16 Kawasaki motorcycle patrol-type units on 8 January. The motorbikes were subsequently turned over to the mounted enforcers of the Muntinlupa Traffic Management Bureau.
“To those who regularly disobey road rules and regulations, you have been warned; sorry if our enforcers catch up to you,” Biazon said.
The mayor pointed out that the new bikes are a significant upgrade to the current motorcycle fleet of the MTMB.
“These units now have a displacement of 400cc which makes them eligible to enter the (South Luzon) expressway; this will enable them to chase and apprehend violators,” Biazon said.
Biazon did remind the traffic enforcers to be good stewards of the new patrol bikes by using them appropriately, and to implement the law correctly.
“Enforce road rules and regulations faithfully and efficiently, and you can be sure that I will personally support your endeavors as you apply the Peace and Order component of the [city’s] 7K Agenda,” he said.
