“Kapag marami kayong pinagdaanan together, marami kayong happy memories together, I have so much love and respect for that person.”
That’s the message actress Miles Ocampo shared about her ex Elijah Canlas, in a recent chat with broadcaster Karen Davila.
The Best Supporting Actress winner of the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (for the Sharon Cuneta-Alden Richards starrer A Family of Two) said she treasures the good memories she has with Canlas, and that she continues to love him.
The shortcomings that got between them, she added, are already in the past.
“I’m happy na naiwan lahat ng issues namin na ‘yon sa 2023, and then we started this year na okay kami — na nag-uusap and all (I’m happy that we left all our issues in 2023, and we’re okay when we started the year – that we’re talking and all).”
She and Canlas remain friends, because “may mga bagay na kaming dalawa lang ang makakaalam at makakasagot sa isa’t isa (There are things only the two of us know and understand). So, might as well be friends for now,” she said.
When Davila asked if Ocampo was open to getting back Canlas, the Eat Bulaga! co-host was quick with her answer: “Tingnan natin ang universe magsabi (Let’s see what the universe says).”
Canlas confirmed the pair’s break-up last November 2023. He said that “rough patches” were a factor in the split.
Aside from her MMFF win, Ocampo has another positive development in her life. She revealed that she is now cancer-free, after undergoing thyroid surgery and treatment last year.
