Peruvian beauty queen and model Luciana Fuster emerged as the Miss Grand International 2023 crown winner on 25 October, besting 68 delegates worldwide in ceremonies held at the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Apart from Fuster, the top five finalists were Myanmar’s Ni Ni Lin Eain, Colombia’s Maria Alejandra Lopez, USA’s Stephanie Marie and Vietnam’s Le Hoang Phuong.
The Philippines’ bet, Nikki de Moura, failed to enter the semifinal round.
In the crucial Q&A portion of the pageant, the finalists were asked to answer a question related to the ongoing
Israel-Palestine war and what they would say to improve the situation.
Fuster’s answer was: “I would talk to Israel’s president and ask him to take care of all his nation because no one deserves to live in hurt. There are lots dying day by day, and all the news [is] horrible,” Fuster said.
“So, if we don’t change our minds; if we don’t change our comportment, we can never be a good society. We can never be a great society. So please, release the hostages.” she added.
Fuster, who succeeded Brazil’s Isabella Menin as Miss Grand International, is the second beauty queen from Peru to win the crown, following María José Lora’s triumph in 2017.
The Peruvian model is a multiple
title-holder. She was hailed Miss Teen Model Peru in 2015 and Miss Teen Pageant International in 2016.
She has also competed in several reality shows in her country and worked as a radio host in Onda Expansiva. Fuster is the most-followed Peruvian woman on Instagram, boasting 4.7 million followers.
Myanmar will host the 12th edition of Miss Grand International on 25 October 2024.
