Popular vlogger and social media influencer Mimiyuuuh has clarified her statement about dating in a new two-minute video posted on Twitter after her earlier advice garnered mixed reactions from netizens.

“Iyan ang aking lesson learned, never ever date someone na walang pera (That’s the lesson I learned: Never ever date someone who has no money), she had said in the video uploaded by Cosmopolitan Philippines on 29 June where she dished about love and relationships.

After that statement was criticized by many netizens for allegedly being “anti-poor,” the vlogger clarified: “Hindi naman po ibig sabihin na mag-date po kayo ng mga milyonaryo, ng mga bilyonaryo (I didn’t say that you should date a millionaire or a billionaire).”

“Mag-date kayo ng someone na may drive, mag-date kayo ng someone na kayang dalhin ‘yung sarili, ‘yung hindi mangungutang at aasa sa’yo. ‘Yun lang yon. Period! (Date someone who is driven, date someone who can carry themselves — someone who wouldn’t borrow money from you and depend on you financially. That’s just it. Period!),” she stressed.

Mimiyuuuh also explained that she came from a financially-challenged background. Thus, she knows how important it is to prioritize things.

“Priority ko pong ayusin ang buhay, priority ko po ang family ko, priority ko ang career ko, at priority ko pong gawing buo ang sarili ko bago po ako magdagdag ng ibang tao sa buhay ko (I prioritize fixing my life, my family, my career, and making myself feel whole before I let someone enter in my life),” she said, reiterating that dating and being in a romantic relationship is a big responsibility.
