American actor Alan Arkin, recipient of Oscar and Tony Awards, died at 89 on Thursday, 29 June, at his home in Carlsbad, California.
Arkin won his Oscar for his supporting role in the indie comedy film, “Little Miss Sunshine”, in 2007. Prior to that, he won a Tony Award in the Broadway play “Enter Laughing” in 1963.
The actor is survived by his three sons—Adam, Matthew, and Anthony—as well as his wife, Suzanne.
“Our father was a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and a man. A loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather, he was adored and will be deeply missed,” his children said in a joint statement.
